A Factory-new Guitar with Decades of Sonic Character
Thanks to its Thermal-aged solid mahogany top, the Ibanez Artwood Vintage AVC9 acoustic guitar delivers rich, vibrant acoustic tone at an affordable price. Thermo-aged tops endure a high-temperature drying process that enhances harmonic complexity – it’s as if the guitar has already been well played for a few years. The Grand Concert body style is great for both fingerpicking and strumming, and the satin finish on the mahogany neck makes for extremely smooth playability. And with appointments you’d normally only find on costlier guitars, such as real bone nut and saddles, the Ibanez Artwood Vintage AVC9 acoustic guitar is a great value.

  • Ibanez Artwood Vintage AVC9 Acoustic Guitar at a Glance:
  • Thermo-aged top for enhanced tonality
  • Bone nut and saddles for richer tone
  • Advantage bridge pins – a better bridge pin design
  • Thermo-aged top for enhanced tonality

The Ibanez Artwood Vintage AVC9 is topped with a Thermo-aged solid top. Also known as “baking” or “torrefaction,” this process dries the wood at an extremely high temperature to remove more moisture than typical processes. Eventually the wood would lose that moisture over the years anyway, and that’s one reason older guitars with solid wood tops sound so good – they actually gain harmonic complexity as the guitar ages. The Thermo-aged solid top on the Artwood Vintage AVC9 provides vintage character in a factory-new instrument.

Bone nut and saddles for richer tone
We’ve probably talked to hundreds of thousands of guitarists here at Sweetwater over the years, and if the topic of saddles and nuts comes up, the overwhelming majority believe bone is the material of choice. While you may not put a lot of thought into these components, they’re the two points at which a guitar string actually transmits vibrations through the instrument’s body. Bone nuts and saddles are normally reserved for more expensive instruments, so we’re very pleased to see real bone on the affordable Artwood Vintage AVC9.

Advantage bridge pins – a better bridge pin design
Speaking of guitar components you may not think about often, Ibanez went back to the drawing board to create Advantage bridge pins, which you’ll find on the Artwood Vintage AVC9. Their bulb-shaped end is easier to remove and put back in, for starters. And Advantage bridge pins allow the string’s ball end to remain in contact with the bridge, instead of forcing it downward like typical bridge pins. This means that Advantage bridge pins won’t start pulling out when you tighten a string.

Ibanez Artwood Vintage AVC9 Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • 6-string acoustic guitar with solid, Thermo-aged mahogany top
  • Open Pore finish for a rustic look and feel
  • X-bracing enhances volume and frequency balance
  • Bone nut and saddles offer better vibrational transfer than some synthetic materials
  • Grand Concert body style has a focused voice and is a good shape/size for fingerpickers and strummers alike
