The 9 string is the new standard for low tunings and as normal the king of the hill when it comes to these extended range guitars is Ibanez. The RG9 delivers all the low end rumble you will ever need at a price that won’t break your break balance. This makes this the perfect guitar if you just want to give 9 strings a go or don’t want to shell out a small fortune on a new axe.

Beautiful RG Design

The RG design has been around for over 30 years now and it turns out that it is perfect for extended range guitars…even for 9 strings. With the RG9 you have a 5 piece maple and bubinga neck that is strong enough to handle incredibly high tension so even if you want to go thicker than the supplied 0.90 gauge low C# you can. In fact Ibanez have made it so that you could even go past 0.100 gauge on the lower strings with over sized machine head and through body string holes. The basswood body perfectly matches the RG9 as it picks up just the musical frequencies of the low 9 string meaning you don’t get a lot of rumble that will just ruin a mix.

Downtuned Lower Than Ever Before

As standard this guitar comes tuned high to low E, B, G, D, A, E, B, F#, C#. That C# is tuned lower than E string on a 4 string bass. Because it is so low you can use this guitar for more than just djent muted rhythms. Get your tapping on with the extra wide range of this guitar you can cover bass and guitar frequencies at once.
